sendmail 8.9.3 anti-spamming

sendmail 8.9.3 anti-spamming

From hp doc id#IVKBRC00006733 - to rebuild my sendmail.cf from gen_cf in order to use the anti-spamming feature:
As the document does not specify, I'm wondering if the default behavior is that any domain NOT listed in the access.db file will be allowed? Anyone know?

Re: sendmail 8.9.3 anti-spamming

From what I understand the 8.9.X sendmail has the anti-spamming on as default (if you are using the default sendmail.cf supplied with it). This means that only mail that originates or terminates on that specific host will be allowed. Anything else is classed as relay traffic which is denied.

http://www.sendmail.org is a good reference point.

Why ?

Re: sendmail 8.9.3 anti-spamming

fyi, I couldn't determine from documentation what the default behavior was, so, I cheated. For the access file I figured I'd be better off to do this:
(example below)

spamming.com REJECT
stillspamming.net REJECT
virussender.org REJECT
*.org OK
*.net OK
*.com OK

This works. My objective was to stop incoming mail from the three domains "spamming.com"; "stillspamming.net"; "virussender.org".
BTW, if you do this in the midst of a spam attack, you can kill the bad mail processes from the 'bad' domains and watch for new ones (which should not appear).
Thanks for the replies.
