sendmail - number of messages per tcp connection

The sendmail is used to relay e-mail to the external MTA. As soon as the TCP connection is established, sendmail keeps on sending e-mail over the same TCP connection for ever until the TCP connection get broken by some reason. Is it possible to limit the number of messages sent per TCP connection? The external MTA has limit on number of messages received per TCP connection and when the number reached, alarm is generated, which annoys our customer. If I could configure the number of messages sent per TCP connection with a lower number than which is configured in the MTA side, I can get rid of the alarms and the customer become happier.
