sendmail

Hi to all

Has any one found a bug between HP-UX and Winoze Exchange where if message body size is 1008 byte (the dfxxxx file in /var/spool/mqueue) then exchange server will not accept the mail from the unix server.

All my other mail is going out from the server but not the 1008 byte message body ones.

Fixes and suggestions welcome.

PS I am stuck with exchange.

Re: sendmail

What is the error meesage returned by the Exchange server? It might actually be an anti-spam or anti-virus setting in Exchange that needs refinement (ie, not all messages that are exactly 1008 bytes long are spam).

Hi Bill

Re: sendmail

Hi Paula,

Are we talking Exchange 5.5 or 2000 ?

Have you captured one of these messages and added a character to the df file - does it then send OK?

Rgds, Robin.

Re: sendmail

Hi Robin
Running 2000, I had thought of changing the body size but was holding off during the investigation phase.

I will now change one of the held mails.

Re: sendmail

Robin

Tried that - still did not send.

I have nine jobs all of 1008 bytes in size sent over a 4 day period and all not going.

These jobs are sent by scripted routine and others are going and these not.

Common elements are:-
Same sender
Same recipient
Same size on message body

Re: sendmail

Hi Paula,

Sorry, just to clarify this - does the script generate other different sized messages, or are these 1008-byte messages unique to this script?

Rgds, Robin.

Re: sendmail

Robin

The script justs checks how many of a particular user ar logged in and sends that info in body of email.
