HP hardware & Microsoft SCOM

Hi,

Can anyone pls help me in understanding HP hardware monitoring through SCOM?

We want to monitor all HP hardwares in our infra. to get hardware related faults... We already have SCOM 2007 in place.

Do i need to use HP SIM for this?

or Is it possible with SCOM 2007 or SCOM 2007 R2 or SCOM 2012?

Re: HP hardware & SCOM

It works like this:

  1. Install the SNMP and/or WBEM HP Providers on you server
  2. These will monitor the hardware and write events to the windows event logs if issues are encountered
  3. Install the HP MP on the SCOM server
  4. Install the SCOM agent (or agentless if needed) on the server
  5. SCOM will now pick up on these events

Re: HP hardware & SCOM

Thank you shocko

I got what you mentioned but....
1. How many HP MP's (for SCOM) are there in total which can fullfil this requirement?
2. Do i need to pay anything for these HP MP's?
3. What i will loose/gain in terms of hardware monitoring if i dont go with HP SIM & IRSA here?
4. Is SCOM a feasible option when we have more than 500+ sites?

Could you give some pointers
