Returning to previously scheduled programming...The big challenges – part two: relevancy gaps

CertDoctor

In the instance of the HP networking certifications, HP is also allowing already-certified engineers to forgo prerequisite requirements and take a reduced number of exams, which, depending on certification track, saves up to 77% in training days.   By focusing only on what someone needs to know beyond what an existing certification may have prepared them for, the focus shifts to what is of particular relevance to that individual.

Second, HP is also recognizing that some IT professionals have built their skills via the “school of hard knocks” as it were and may not hold any IT certifications.  For the new Architect-level CI credential, HP is taking an inclusive assessment approach, meaning there are zero prerequisite requirements.   Assessing skills up front and recommending the appropriate program placement based on the result is a killer deal for people with a lot of skills but no paper backing it up.

Until next time,
