Top things to see and do while attending HPE Technology and Solutions Summit 2017 in Bangkok!

Contributing author: Lillian ChingTSS Bangkok 2017.jpg

On March 6 to 10, 2017, we are hosting #HPETSS in the heart of Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. Bangkok is well known on the world stage as an exotic and ruckus destination, with its non-stop pace, landmarks, and infamous nightlife have given it this reputation. But it is more commonly described as a mixture of the old and the new, of East and West, and this is apparent wherever you go, with offering of a wealth of great temples, museums, and other historic sights to enjoy.

Pack for the Weather

The weather in Bangkok is dominated by a tropical monsoon climate which means there are three main seasons: hot season from March to June, rainy season from July to October and cool season between November and February. As Bangkok holds claim to being the hottest city in the world, expect daytime temperatures to be in excess of 30 degrees centigrade throughout the year (with the possible exception of late December and early January).

Do pack accordingly for the weather. For the weather forecast in Bangkok, you may read more here: http://www.accuweather.com/en/th/bangkok/318849/march-weather/318849?monyr=3/1/2017

Visa

Visitors to Bangkok, Thailand must obtain a visa from one of the Thai diplomatic missions unless they come from a visa-exempt country or a country whose citizens are eligible to obtain visas on arrival.

Thailand currently offers visa-free travel to nationals of 57 countries. The Thai government has bilateral agreements on visa waivers with some of these countries. Nationals of 21 countries can obtain a visa on arrival.

For more information on Thailand Immigration and Visa Requirement, please visit the following website: http://www.immigration.go.th/

Currency

The currency used in Bangkok is the Thai Baht. Normally abbreviated to THB followed by the value. Banknotes come in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 baht. Coins come in denominations of: 1, 2, 5 and 10 baht, as well as 25 and 50 satang (You may get some 25 or 50 satang coins in change at a supermarket). Foreign currency exchanges facilities are available at the airport and at most banks and authorized money changers in Bangkok.

Use the Currency Converter to find the estimated value in your own currency, based on the daily exchange rates.
