Device Failed

HP Netserver LH Series

I got a critical alert in my management software (HP Toptools) showing HostAdapter#0, TargetID 5, Lun#0 has failed. How could I know which device failed or is it just a false alarm.

Re: Device Failed

Whew...it's taken me several tries just to respond to this.

I would suggest you look at your syslog.log file. That message 'hints' at hardware problem. But you'll get a more detailed message in syslog if it is. To help you know how to decode a hardware error (like lbolt) take a look at this thread:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,1150,0x2b8237f45ef7d4118fef0090279cd0f9,00.html

If your syslog looks ok...than you may want to double check everything, but if folks aren't calling saying they're down...than your ok for now. It could have just been an information alert or it could indicate a piece of hardware is showing signs of going bad, but hasn't completely failed yet. Like I said, check that syslog file...and you'll know better how to proceed.

Just a thought,
