LH3 - Lose Netraid config after Bios update
Hi,
We have just updated the bios of our HP LH3 Netserver. Now when we reboot we get an 'OS not found' error. There is only one hard drive in the entire system and that is connected to the Intergrated Netraid.
Within Netraid Express it lists the disc as READY.
I have checked the boot order and that appears to be correct.
How do we recover from this and get the Netraid to recognised this disc without losing the data?
Help!
Neil

Re: LH3 - Lose Netraid config after Bios update
Did you get any errors during POST? If you got a "nvram/disk config mismatch" error your problem is easily recoverable.
If you did get a mismatch error, enter NetRAID express Tools and go to:
configure > view/add/delete configuration
There, you should have an option for two configs: DISK config and NVRAM config.
View both configs but DO NOT SAVE either one until you have viewed both. You have to decide which config is correct before you decide which one you need to save.
But, from your description of the problem, chances are the DISK config will be correct: is the drive ONLINE in that config?? If it is ONLINE on the DISK config, save that config before exiting the VIEW/ADD/DELETE option.
Even if you didn't get this error, then all may not be lost. The data is probably still intact on the drive; you just have to reconfigure the RAID array. You must reconfigure the array using the same settings as before: RAID level, stripe size, etc. Do you know how the array was set up?
Once you reconfigure the array, save the new config but DO NOT initialize the array!! Initializing the array will erase any data on the drives!
After saving the array, reboot the server: if all of this worked, you should be able to boot up to your NOS again.
Good luck.
