LH3000 switches off when upper power cord removed

Hi,

we have 2 LH3000s here, bost show the same strange thing:

In the back there are 3 power supplys in the lower three slots. When i plug out the lower power cord the system switches off (status display stays on saying "front panel power down"). Should't the system keep running???
When I plug out the upper one the system keeps running and the front status led changes to red, as it should be...
Sounds not very redundant to me...

Both servers show the same behavier, and HP Toptools tell me everything is ok.

Another System which i cannot test because it is productiv has only two power supplys. Is this system not redundant in power supply thisngs at all?

Regards,
Markus

Re: LH3000 switches off when upper power cord removed

hi,

The lh3000 needs 2 psu's to run at minimum spec, so you pulling the cord on the cage that holds 2 psu's kills the server.
For full redunancy you need the 4th psu installed then the server would keep running if you disconected one cage or lost power to it.
2 psu's go into one cage and are powered individually.
