NetServer E60 PIII installation

I have placed the slowest PIII I could find into the E60 (a 667EB) and when booting I get the " Missing Microcode Update" error. I flashed the BIOS and still get the error.

The board SWitches only show PII 500 support. How would I indicate the PIII 550 or higher?

What would it take to get rid of the Microcode error?

Thanks for any assistance.

This is not possible. The limitations of the system board will not allow for processors greater than PIII 550.

Re: NetServer E60 PIII installation

The processor runs at a multiple of the board speed. This multiplier factor is what the switches set. The factor is always x.0 or x.5 times the "base" speed.
If your board won't set a higher factor there is nothing you can do.
FWIW: the lower-speed processors are still very easy to find on the secondary market.
