Netserver LC3 does not switch off

Hello,

I have been asked to refurbish an old Netserver LC3, D7023-60200/D7023AV.

I've successfully installed Windows XP, but when shutting down, the computer does not switched off. It just sits there with a message "It is now safe to switch off the computer". There is also no facility for suspending or hibernation.

Using Intel's Chipset ID utility, v2.91 reports:

Intel 440 chipset
Memory controller: 82440BX/DX/ZX
I/O controller: Unknown

According the Intel .inf update utility, XP already has the correct .inf files for the 440 chipset.

Are the correct drivers available for this computer, or is there another solution?

Thanks, Sean

Re: Netserver LC3 does not switch off

Sean,

i think the servers BIOS is to old and not ACPI compliant enough to support those features. This server not even supports Windows 2003 (and for that matter never supported Windows XP), so those features like hybernate were never available for this kind of server.

Re: Netserver LC3 does not switch off

Hi Kris

Thank you for the quick and informative reply.

HP must of used a BIOS that was already well out of date when the machine was built (1999) - does not inspire confidence.
