PCI Video card problem with LD Pro

I have an old LD Pro with Win2k Advanced Server installed. My problem is with the video card. I have disabled the on board video, installed the video card in slot 8 with a 10/100 ethernet card in slot 6. I can not get more than 16 colors. I have tried a few different cards and get system lockups when trying to use my network connection. I seem to recall some old postings about other cards but can not find them now. I thought at one point somebody said to use an older 'Matrox' card and had no problems. Can somebody shed some light on this?
