Solution
Hi glen,
There is a known issue with a BIOS ver is less than 4.06.26PN. It is because
"HP Netserver e60 system boards introduced recently with a newer super I/O chip (version "EF") have a different Device ID than the original super I/O chip (version "TF"). The difference in Device IDs is causing the HP Netserver e60 to hang during its Microsoft Windows 2000 installation."
If your BIOS is earlier than 4.06.26 PN it is the BIOS issue. Therefore, should be resolved by updating the BIOS to the latest which is 4.06.26PN
You can download the latest BIUOS from this link
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locale=en_USтМй=English&pnameOID=18330&prodSeriesId=45937&prodTypeId=15351&basePartNum=ns1765&locBasepartNum=ns1765en&os=Cross+OS&tech=BIOS
1. Download the file
2. Double click the downloaded file and that will creat a bootable floppy disk
3. Reboot the E 60 from teh BIOS floppy disk
4. Follow the on screen instruction and update teh BIOS
5. On the next reboot after BIOS flash press F2 to get in to the BIOS, and then press F10 to save and exit
This should resolve the issue and you should be able to intstall windows 2000
I hope this will help
Regards

Thanks you Amha,
You are a champion. Flashing the BIOS has overcome the problem. Thanks once again.
