clean install of Windows 2K Server and RAID
I have a Windows NT 4 Server with two RAID 5 arrays on it. I would like to do a clean install of Windows 2000 Server instead of an upgrade and not lose the RAID configuration of the two arrays. The OS is not part of the two RAID arrays. Thank you.

Re: clean install of Windows 2K Server and RAID
depending on your hardware.. remove extra drives and controller off the server "dont mix it"
run fdisk on server and delete the system partition "only". makesure not to delete the system config partition.
Reboot
run fdisk again and create primary partition using fat32..this is if you want to capture big drives for your OS.
Reboot
format new partition and install the os.
when done shutdown the server and re install the arrays and the drives. reboot and go to the F10 to make sure that the array you just added does not take over as the primary device.
or you can just run the OS install and delete the partition from there.
but I think I like the first step better.
and if you want to also save any sharepoints on this, you can go to Microsoft for that.
or post it someone might knwo the instructions for it. "this has to be done before flatening the server"
