subject: NetRAID.Log -- Adapter 0: Battery Voltage LOW
Hello,
I read in this forum that Jan Shu posted the same question that I have. I just want to know what the soloution was to the problem.
I have an HP Server with a Netraid Controller, and I get the following warning in my Application Log:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: NetRAID.Log
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5202
Date: 27/01/2005
Time: 4:11:59 PM
User: N/A
Computer: PC01
Description:
Adapter 0: Battery Voltage LOW.
*****************************************
Event Type: Information
Event Source: NetRAID.Log
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5102
Date: 27/01/2005
Time: 4:12:10 PM
User: N/A
Computer: PC01
Description:
Adapter 0: Battery Voltage GOOD.
***************************************
This Warning comes approximately every minute.
Is this a problem with the battery on the controller? Or is the problem something else?
Thanks in advance
Giuseppe

Re: subject: NetRAID.Log -- Adapter 0: Battery Voltage LOW
Hi Guiseppe,
I sounds like you have a netraid 2M controller with an older ver FW in it. Most probabily the FW ver on the netraid controller is ver H.01.08 or below
To check the FW
"This is because when the battery pack (total 3 cells) reach voltage within 4.2V+/-20mV oscillation during the fast charge. The firmware checks the battery status too frequent in certain time pattern every 10 secs and 3 min interval"
Look on POST at the point where FW intializes drives or If you are running windows OS and have Netraid assistant installed you can get it under Adapter property
To update the FW (assuming the raid controller is Netraid 2M or 1M)
1. Dwonload the latest FW from this link
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=296140&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=51930&prodTypeId=329290&swEnvOID=54
2. Creat a bootable floppy off of the download
3. Boot the server from that floppy and floow the on screen instruction
4. That should clear away the error
I hope this will help
Good Luck
