Nas1500 NFS and windows problems

Hello,

We have a Nas1500 coulped to a HP9000 running HP-UX10.20 and two Windows NT4.0 servers, when a user creates a file on the NFS share of the NAS it can't be deleted from the Windows share of the same directory, it can be deleted from the NAS itself, but then you have to first delete the files from the directory and as soon as the directory is empty you can delete the directory.

I've checked the rights and the say in windows, special rights for everyone (rwx), users (rwx) and ANONYMOUS USERS (rwx), but no delete rights how can i configure the NFS share so it gives NT4 users delete rights?

This is a bit of a guess...

In UNIX environments, you need write permission to the directory that the file is in, in order to delete a file.

So, check your directory permissions, instead of the file permissions. Perhpas adding write permission to the directory will allow you to delete the file.

Good luck,

Vince

Re: Nas1500 NFS and windows problems

There is no problem in Unix from unix the file can be deleted, the only problem is from Windows.

A windows administrator can't delete the file/directory Through the share.
but if the administrator logs on to the Nas he can delete the files.

Re: Nas1500 NFS and windows problems

Does the Windows Administrator have write permission to the directory on the share?

Re: Nas1500 NFS and windows problems

The Windows administrator is the owner of the tree but not of the files in the subdirectory, he is not specifically owner or has rights to the file other then everyone and user.
