Interfaces remain down
Switch config on interface has the following:
dev 1
int g1/0/2
port link-mode route
combo enable copper
undo shutdown
ip address
dev 2
int g1/0/2
port link-mode route
combo enable copper

ip address
dis int brief shows link and protocol down.
simulator config:

Removing host_ip = 10.1.1.1 from the simulator config brought the interfaces up.

Yes, we cannot give IP's to the devices from the simulator script. That is why interfaces were down.
