Shalom,

I do not see a problem. Is there an error message or something to look at?

Re: APA config for failover on hp rx6600 with hp-ux 11.31 Update 5

I have the CISCO 6500 Catalist, lan0 and lan1 plug in at the same switch.
I tested 58(great many) various combination configuration switch and APA with the same results.
Problem may be configuration CISCO switch but I do not know right configuration CISCO switch for HP APA.

Hi,
On the switch side, lan0 and lan1 ports settings are the same? Are they on the same vlan? Can you do a linkloop from lan0 to lan1?

Re: APA config for failover on hp rx6600 with hp-ux 11.31 Update 5

I think you try to use APA in failover mode so you shouldn't configure any LACP/etherchannel in your switch for the ports that server connected. Is etherchannel active on this swicth ports?

Yes,

Re: APA config for failover on hp rx6600 with hp-ux 11.31 Update 5

LACP is used when you use APA for "Link Aggreagte". For failover group i think you shouldnt configure LACP/etherchannel on the switch side.

Re: APA config for failover on hp rx6600 with hp-ux 11.31 Update 5

I tested switch first time with the PAgP and result was at the same but boys from HP seaid that APA failover needed etherchannel(portchannel) with LACP instead PAgP.

I do not know where's true but I tested great number of various combination config the CISCO and APA with the same result: after plug in unpluged lan0 frozen all, after reboot is all OK also after unpluged lan0 without plug in lan0 is all OK.

Re: APA config for failover on hp rx6600 with hp-ux 11.31 Update 5

Check the link below:
http://docs.hp.com/en/J4240-90045/ch01s01.html#linkAgg

For "Link Aggregate", it states that:
The link partner (the switch, router, or server) ports connected to the server ports must be configured for link aggregation (trunking). In addition, the mode on the link partner and the server must be the same. For example, if ports 1, 2, 3, and 4 are connected to a link partner switch's ports C1, C2, C3, and C4, respectively, and the server side is trunked using LACP_AUTO mode, the partner switch must be configured to trunk ports C1, C2, C3, and C4 using LACP_AUTO mode.

For "Failover Group", there is no such thing.

Re: APA config for failover on hp rx6600 with hp-ux 11.31 Update 5

Hello Michael Leu,

Thank you very much for the Your good idea.
The answer has solved my problem completely:

"Shouldn't lan900 be in netconf instead of lan0?"

I set at the netconf as below and APA Failover is OK.

INTERFACE_NAME[1]="lan900"
IP_ADDRESS[1]="172.22.107.70"
SUBNET_MASK[1]="255.255.255.0"
BROADCAST_ADDRESS[1]="172.22.107.255"
INTERFACE_STATE[1]="up"
DHCP_ENABLE[1]="0"
INTERFACE_MODULES[1]=""
DEFAULT_INTERFACE_MODULES=""
ROUTE_MASK[1]=255.255.255.0
ROUTE_GATEWAY[1]=172.22.107.1
ROUTE_COUNT[1]=1
ROUTE_DESTINATION[1]=default

Best Regards
Jozef
