Hi All
Beside named-checkconf, is there any other tool the can check the syntax of named.conf? Or to verify that named.conf can funtion normally?
Thanks in advance

Solution
I know nothing, but if you can find a
named.conf directive to set a different port
number, then you should be able to run the
thing without interfering with any normal
operations. Gross problems should then
trigger complaints to the usual places (log
files, ...).
If you can also persuade nslookup (or another
program) to _use_ the different port number,
then you could exercise the whole set-up.
Otherwise, if you can run the test on some
system which no one believes is a DNS server,
then you can do whatever you please, and who
would know? nslookup _does_ have a "server"
command which you could use to direct its
inquiries to the server of your choice (like
your test system).

Re: Bind 9 tool to check named.conf
Thanks~ Actually I was thinking whether there is any other inbuilt tool in bind to check this. Any simplier method of checking?

Re: Bind 9 tool to check named.conf
Have a look through ISC's web site, since they are the developers of BIND.
https://www.isc.org/software/bind
There may be something there that is useful to you.
