CIFS issue: Unable to mount cifs share
OS HP-UX 11.23
Hello-
I have a system running 11.23 that has a stale cifs mount that is causing an error when I run BDF command. The windows server with the CIFS share crashed (go figure) and my HP-UX system still thinks it is out there mounted.
rp8420 root /.root # bdf
NFS getattr failed for server localhost: RPC: Timed out
NFS getattr failed for seer lrvocalhost: RPC: Timed out
NFS getattr failed for server localhost: RPC: Timed out
NFS getattr failed for server localhost: RPC: Timed out
<displays BDF output after timeout expires>
It seems like the system keeps trying to complete IO on the directory even though I have killed the processes.
couldn't unlink /service/SomeData/transport/: Connection timed out.
I am able to cifslogin to the share, but I am not able to mount it using the /service mount point. If I choose a different Mount Point, I am able to successfully mount the share.
My question is: How can I troubleshoot this and fix without the need to reboot? I have tried stopping and starting the CIFS Client service, NFS, as well as the RPC daemon. None of those actions worked.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Re: CIFS issue: Unable to mount cifs share
Usually it is due to a pending reques which is blocked.
For instance if you didn't change cifsclient.cfg fileCreateMask to at least 0600
Once you are in that case, and the problem happened, reboot is necessary
If this doesn't work, support may help
