Can't create new dial up connection after xp pro upgrade...

I recently upgraded from 98 to xp pro. I had a firewire cable attached at the time, (not sure if that mattered) and now the only internet connection option I have is the IEEE port. I don't have the ability to delete my ieee connection, and the only new connections I can add are broadband, everything else is greyed out.
Does anyone know if the SP1a would fix this?

Oops... your problem is firewire (NOT firewall).
Usually, you can just go into Control Panel, right-click the 1394 connection icon, and choose disable. If that doesn't work, you can always enter your machines' BIOS and disable the IEEE 1394 port there... it's normally listed under an "Integrated Devices" section of some sort.

You must install SP1a and visit http://www.windowsupdate.com to apply all critical updates/patches.

What is your Motherboard Model? Some Motherboards ships with a CD that contain drivers and utilities.

SP1a works like a charm on this problem, not only did it let me set up new connections, but it correctly read the old connection I had.
