Change IP address lan2 for lan0

A Itanim HP-UX has been running lan0=192.168.1.1 and lan2=10.1.1.1, and

I must exchange IP address lan2 for lan0.

I have a plan that modify settings in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf, and reboot the system.

(for detail [0] is changed to [2], [2] to [0])

What' s problem in this  procedure?

I have a only one chance to change it, so,

please help and advice about this procedure's wrong point.

Regards,

Re: Change IP address lan2 for lan0

be sure to have backup copies of any files that you change so that you have a way to return to your original configuration!

in addition to modifying your netconf file, you'll also want to check your /etc/hosts file.

rebooting is probably the best way to implement this change.  if you can't do that, you may need to watch for routing errors and be prepared to react (route add and route delete)

HI,

1. Backup old configuration ( if needed)
2. change ip address
3. restart network service
4. check routing table and try ping to gateway
5.if there getting worst, restart the server

Thanks

Re: Change IP address lan2 for lan0

Shalom,

So many services require networking that I would plan on a reboot.

Also, access the system via console so that when you are making network changes you don't cut off your access.

Re: Change IP address lan2 for lan0

Consider to connect to the console and use "set_parms" to do the change - then do a reboot.

Hope this helps!
