DNS Client issue

Hi,

I configured DNS client in my application server running on HP-UX11.23. After that server response in network is very slow. I commented all lines in /etc/resolv.conf. and server response in network is fine.
DNS server is configured in windows.

Re: DNS Client issue

It should not be slow
what is the content of your resolv.conf ?
Did you put a domainname directive and a search directive in the resolv.conf ? If not set correctly that can slow down the request

Re: DNS Client issue

You can reconfigure timeouts in resolv.conf - retry and retrans options.
See man page - http://docs.hp.com/en/B3921-60631/resolver.4.html

Re: DNS Client issue

There is mistake in nameserver ip address.
Actual ip is 10.196.215.222.
It is a copy-patse error.

Re: DNS Client issue

Try putting the search path with the domain name in /etc/resolv.conf

search tnsdc.bsnl.co.in

Does it make any change.

What is in your /etc/nsswitch.conf. Is there an entry for dns
