Errors on Blocked Switch Port with STP enabled
Hi all,
I have some switches redundantly connected to each other and spanning tree enabled. I just wonder whether it is ok to see the number of Error Rx growing on ports that are blocked by the STP algorithm. If I understand correctly, Rx means receiving errors, so I am just wondering whether this might be the STP packets from other switch, and might be normal, or is there sth. wrong with my configuration, and this generally should not happen.
kind regards
Sebastian

Re: Errors on Blocked Switch Port with STP enabled
You really should posted in another forum:

More switch guys there. This one is for Microsoft networking.
It seems odd that you are getting RX errors. I usually see them when I have a Duplex mismatch (one side set to Full and the other to Autonegotiate.) Autonegotiate can only go to Full if the other side is also set to Autonegotiate.
You don't say what version of firmware you have or even which switch. There was one version of firmware that made random RX errors that was recently talked about in the above forum.

Re: Errors on Blocked Switch Port with STP enabled
whoops, sorry, really wrong forum. I'll take a look at the firmware version, and take the suggested form.
thanks for pointing out.
