HP-UX and windows connection through lan (Interface state is down)
Hi,
I have been trying to connect HP-UX itanium 11i v3 server and windows client through lan.Its been three days but havent got any success.I have configured lan interface according to HP-UX lan manual and configure windows client machine also. on HP-UX when I tried following command,
#nwmgr -g -v -c lan0
It shows Interface state = down
probable cause for state = cable disconnect.
But I have connected cable properly
I'm not able to ping to windows machine.
can anyone please help me regarding this.
Regards,
Abhinav

Perhaps you did, and perhaps not, but with my weak psychic powers, I
have no idea what you did. As usual, showing actual commands with their
actual output can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.
lanscan
ifconfig lanX (X = 0, 1, 2, ...)
> [...] and configure windows client machine also.
Again, no useful information there.
ipconfig

nwmgr -g -v -c lanX (X = 0, 1, 2, ...)

To what? What is this system? How many network interfaces does it
have? Which one are you using? Configuring?
> I'm not able to ping to windows machine.
Not a useful problem description. It does not say what you did. It
does not say what happened when you did it. As usual, showing actual
commands with their actual output can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

Perhaps, if you provide some useful information.

This is probably correct.
Your server has likely a number of NICs, so you need to make sure the cable is really connected to lan0.
Lets try this- post the output of
# model
# lanscan
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
