How to do NIC bonding?
HI Guys,
New to the world of hpux.
We are looking to hook up some existing 11i v2 servers to a netapp filer.
As it uses NFS, is bonding the best method of failover? or does it have any OS utilities like powerpath( used on linux)
Also I was reading up and found that auto-port aggregation is the way to do NIC bonding. But its not free.
Is there any other method to do this?
Thank you.

Re: How to do NIC bonding?
For NIC bounding APA is the software you want. But as you know it is not free for hp-ux 11i v2. If netapp can be configured with more than one network you can manually distribute file systems over different lan cards but it is not a good solution.

Re: How to do NIC bonding?
APA. Auto Port Aggregation. http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02474872/c02474872.pdf
Note: You can not do any configuration save manual without changing your switch configuration. Procedure varies based on the switch maker. Many Cicso Administrators do not know how to do this. It is harder than doing it under Linux.
There is a 75% throughput bump by doing two NIC's with APA active active in my real world tests conducted on HP-UX 11.31 in 2010.
