How to create a local login when NIS client is running on HP UX 11.00

Just like you would create any other ordinary account. I would suggest first create a local group (GID) which does not exist in the NIS group map and then create your local user with that GID. Use SAM if you're not sure how to edit the /etc/passwd and /etc/group file. In SAM select ..
Account for Users & Group -> Group
then goto Action -> Add
Add your new GID. Then go back to..
Account for Users & Group -> User
then goto Action -> Add
Add your user here, use the new GID that you've added previously.
Double check the entries in /etc/passwd and /etc/group files.
Account for Users & Group -> Group
