Prevent AAAA queries over IPv4

Hello all,

My network/DNS team is complaining about the quantity of AAAA queries my boxes are sending to their servers. We're currently running and IPv4 only environment, including the connection to the DNS servers. My servers are mostly HPUX 11.31

I've removed dns from the ipnodes line in resolv.conf per advice I've seen elsewhere, but to my understanding that only suppresses lookups on the newer system calls, not the legacy ones... As a result, I see reduced AAAA queries, but not a total stop.

I've also tried `/sbin/init.d/net-ipv6 stop`, but tcpdump still shows AAAA's on the wire.

Thoughts?

Seems no one else has a good answer for this either.

My support team is escalating this to backline support - will post if they come up with anything.
