Problem setting Compaq DL380 (G3) NC7781 to 1000Mb/s

We have a Compaq DL 380 (G3) with duel onboard 1GB adapters (NC7881). I need to know how we can configure the adapters to run at 1000gb/s. We are running Windows 2000 Advance Server with SP4 and are using Driver version 7.35.0.0

When I select to NIC in device manager or via the network connections setup, there are only 5 options 10mb/s Half, 10mb/s Full, 100Mb/s Half, 100Mb/s Full and Auto.

How do I get the 1000mb/s half & 1000mb/s Full?

I would try setting nic and switch port auto.

Firstly thankyou for your quick responce.

Setting the NIC to Auto seems to cause speed issues and having done some packet analysis and such like, we are not getting anywhere near the transfeer speeds that I expect.

I need to know how to set the NIC Manualy.

Hi. Rob

Have seen this problem before on other Cards. We've managed to overcome it by changing the driver version. As for setting to auto... my comms guys don't recommend it.. too much polling between switch & card

hope it helps

Make sure you have the Nic Teaming software installed. This software contains the ability to change the settings for these ports manually. If it is installed, you will see a tray item for Teaming. Open the tray item, hi-lite the NIC you want and bring up it's properties. Find the speed/duplex you want, and set it (e.g 1000/full). NOTE: If you then go to do properties on the Network in the conventional manner, it brings up the Windows GUI for the hardware - this will indicate some bogus setting for the (1000/full)- ignore it.
