SubDomain/New Domain

Hi,

Currently we have a domain of hp9000.com with a network number of 10.10.1. The
box is known as dmukhp1.hp9000.com. We also access the same machine from our
training room, and that has a network number of 192.168.100.

How can i make 192.168.100.25 which is the IP of the machine on the other
subnet resolve to hp9000.com, or do I have to create a subdomain to do that, if
so how?

Simon, if you want to change the hostname/IP, run set_parms.

Re: SubDomain/New Domain

Hehe, me trying to be clever seems to have screwed up DNS totally now, HA!

I originally tried to see if i could have two domains and two reverse lookups
to see if one domain could be allocated for our training room subnet, and one
for our main network. It didn't work.

Now, if I try to create just one primary name server with lookup:
datamirror.com with 1.10.10.in-addr.arpa, SAM correctly displays the
information in the DNS server dialogue box, however, it also adds training.com
with the other subnet, i'm not sure where it is getting this information from.
I've deleted named.* from /etc, and the databases from /bin/db.whatever, but it
still gets the training.com from somewhere, do you know where?

Re: SubDomain/New Domain

I have deleted named.* and db.* from /etc/named.data, /usr/bin and /etc and yet
if I choose to add primary/secondary information in SAM, i enter my domain and
network number, and suddenly, that info is added to the list when i click ok,
along with a training.com domain, which i don't want, do you know where it is
picking training.com up from, as I think i have searched everywhere for
named.boot, db.* and deleted everything related to it.
