Telnet and FTP slow responsd/ timeout.

Hi Expert,

One of our lab server rp5470 ethernet is behaving strangly.

When I try to telnet / ftp across the network getting very slow respond and some time timeout.

Any pointer on this issue. How can I isolate problem.

Hi, seams to be the wrong category.

But some questions:

what says "netstat -s", lanadmin -> lan -> display.

Can you ping your default gateway from the UX Machine?

What are the duplex/speed setting under lanadmin and on the switch?

- Is the accessing host's reverse lookup working from the HP-UX box? -> fix DNS!
- Are transfer speeds ok (>9MB/s) or low (100KB/s)? -> fix duplex settings!
- check for transmission errors in lanadmin
please also carefully look through /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

usually missing reverse DNS is causing this issue.
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.
