According to HP-MS Networking information (http://network.europe.hp.com/web/socks/#Client) we now have to use a socks client for Windos that is only an evaluation version that run out in October...
Does anybody know if there is a more permanent solution from HP?

Bill: Thanks, but that V5 is the one I was referring to and we use now :-)
But NEC changed the evaluation period from 1 year to 2 months and it is not to be used for commercial use.
You then have to use a licensed version and HP still does not supply one for windoze...

SolutionI finally got the Hummingbird sock client to work. However, because it is free, there is a catch. Unlike sock cap when hummingbird sock client is being run, you will not be able to run local telnet, ftp or even search the internet with MS explorer. Basically, the whole PC is socksified. To disable it, the socks.cfg file must be renamed or remove.

Re: Which socks client to use within HP Intranet?
Thanks, that puts the usability of the software in a somewhat different perspective... :-(
I will pass it on to the persons working on it.
