Windows 2003 Domain Rename
Is there anybody having tried to rename a Windows 2003 AD Domain. We consider rename a "clean" Windows 2003 Domain as preparation to migrate several other domains into this one. We would like to change both the NetBIOS name and the complete DNS-name for the domain. I am aware this is not trivial, and is just asking if there is anybody with experience from doing it, or have looked into the challenge, and concluded to do it otherwise.

Re: Windows 2003 Domain Rename
I have not done it but I hear it's now easier than ever before. See:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/all/techref/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/windowsServ/2003/all/techref/en-us/w2k3tr_domrn_what.asp
Make a great day!

Re: Windows 2003 Domain Rename
I had to do it?
You'll need to download the Domain Rename Tool from here and extract it then Download the Document titled "Domain-Rename Procedure" and follow the steps in pages 27-67 but it'll better if you read the whole document before doing anything.
You'll have to dump the configuration in an XML file, change the domain, DNS...etc and load the XML file again, here is an example of the XML file:
BEFORE Editing (Root domain name:
cohovineyard.com)
AFTER Editing (Root domain name:
cohowinery.com)
