install firefox2006
memory allcation failed for extended data while reading: Not enough space.
I check the space and looks good.
any suggestions

Which "space" did you check? The error
message refers to memory, not disk space.
Some context might be useful, like, for
example:
Where did you get this "firefox2006.tar"?
On what are you running this "tar" command?

Also, what version of Tru64 are we dealing with here ? V5 or older ? See uname -a or sizer -v.
Or, The tar archive itself might be corrupt - is the archive readable by tar on another Un*x platform ?

I'd be amazed if there were. For Tru64 V4.x,
you need to do your shopping for software in
antique stores. You may be able to find some
version of Mozilla (or Netscape, or Mosaic,
or something) for an OS that old, but you
should adjust your expectations downward.
