samba folder file permission issues
Hi,
I am using HP Unix,i had configured samba server and give access to windows users to manipulate files,
but the problem is if create file from unix, the windows user cannot modify the file untill copy to windows and again paste the same folder.
i belive this is due to insufficent privilleges to non unix users,
please advice.
regs,
Chitta

Re: samba folder file permission issues
Shalom Chitta,
Some sort of integration is required in order to solve this problem.
To allow windows user access to work in concert as you wish, do the following.
http://software.hp.com
LDAP-UX
Install it, configure it to integrate with your windows ADS server.
Then join the HP-UX system to the samba domain with security=ads
/opt/samba/bin/net join -w -S primary_domain_controller -U
A simpler approach if its a limited number of users would be to initialize the smbpasswd file
smbpasswd -a
Follow the prompts.
