CUDO Communications Eliminates White Box Risk and Uncertainty with HPE

Last summer I posted a blog reviewing the advantages of the HPE OEM program for solution providers who currently rely on white box platforms.  At first blush, low-cost white box servers certainly seem attractive—especially when you are trying to get a new solution to market as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.    But many OEMs soon realize white box vendors lack the global resources, stable products and extensive supply chain needed to support their long-term business goals.  Many turn to HPE to take sales to the next level.  HPE OEM CUDO Communication is a perfect example.

CUDO Communication is a leading provider of security, business software and telecommunications solutions to global brands like Hyundai, LG and Samsung.  The company’s IntelliVIX intelligent video surveillance solution blends traditional CCTV monitoring with real-time analytics, making security staff more productive and effective.  The solution automatically analyzes video streams to detect, track and classify threats, helping businesses and governments improve public safety, mitigate risks and contain costs.

HPE Servers Meet Stringent Video Surveillance Price-Performance and Resiliency Demands

CUDO originally chose a white box server for their initial IntelliVIX deployments.  Like many HPE OEMs, they quickly realized the limitations imposed by a commodity platform. “Our customers were looking for intelligent video surveillance systems with increased resilience and scalability to meet their specific needs,” explains In-Kyu Lee, Director of CUDO Communication’s Security Business Division. “We also needed a platform that could be supported globally as we expanded our business.”

Next-generation video surveillance solutions like IntelliVIX generate, process, and analyze massive amounts of data, introducing unprecedented compute capacity and performance demands.  After evaluating a number of options, CUDO standardized on HPE ProLiant and Apollo servers.  “A comprehensive portfolio with the right price/performance and the HPE name behind it was one of the main reasons we chose HPE,” says Lee. “It means we can build a customized solution that meets the availability and scalability needs of each customer at the price that’s right for their business.” HPE’s global supply chain and support network and reputation for product quality also played an important role in the decision process.  Thanks to HPE, CUDO Communication now enjoys an expanded market presence and a more competitive solution portfolio.
