Princess House takes big step to modernize IT infrastructure with HPE SimpliVity
If history has taught us anything, itโs that change is inevitable. For those unable to adapt quickly, disaster can follow. Industry giants that were not agile enough to respond were left behind. Many tried but were too late to the market due to inflexible business processes. Many of our clients have experienced years of dissatisfaction with their IT infrastructure, facing outdated technology, high costs, and inadequate performance from service providers. With an infrastructure that is less than ideal from a cost and capability perspective, most are concerned that they are not meeting the evolving business requirements for the digital age.
Disasters or equipment failures had the potential to impair IT services and disrupt business; restoring critical applications could take hours or even days using the legacy solutions. Princess House, a leading direct sales organization in California, chose HPE SimpliVity to simplify operations, ensure data protection, and improve performance. Princess House was plagued with aging IT systems that were becoming increasingly inefficient, risky, and costly. The legacy IT infrastructure included Dell PowerEdge servers and EqualLogic storage systems, deployed in a single data center. The IT department relied on four different data-backup and recovery tools to protect a variety of applications.
The Benefits of IT Infrastructure Transformation
As digital initiatives and technology have become more prominent, a high-performing IT infrastructure is crucial. The infrastructureโs strength has an enormous bearing on corporate resultsโfrom back-end capabilities and customer-facing advances. The benefits of getting an IT infrastructure transformation right are huge, with a wealth of opportunities for savings and process improvements and the potential to create an advantage by having a competitive and flexible technology environment. Companies that reassess their infrastructure consistently tap into a variety of benefits.
After thoroughly investigating solutions from vendors such as Dell, Nutanix, and ExaGrid, Princess House selected HPE SimpliVity for its next-generation data center architecture. The hyperconverged solution minimizes infrastructure cost and complexity by consolidating a variety of IT functionsโincluding compute, storage, network switching, replication, and backupโonto virtualized, industry-standard x86 hardware. Princess House implemented an HPE SimpliVity configuration for ultimate data protection. The company replaced five racks of legacy Dell equipment with two 2U HPE SimpliVity nodes in its primary data center. It also deployed a node in a remote colocation center for disaster recovery. The IT group centrally manages the distributed configuration using VMware vCenterยฎ. Transformation results in the following -
- Enabled full data protection for all applications
- Streamlined operations, freeing up staff to focus on core business initiatives
- Reduced total cost of ownership
- Lowered storage costs
- Improved application performance, eliminating Big Data analytics CPU alarms
Performed backups and restores in minutes compared to hours
