Can Windows Server 2008 32 bit run on Intel Xeon E3 1200 processor series?

I need to buy a server, processor Intel Xeon E3-1230 or above. My company prefers to run windows server 2008 32 bit OS on the server. Certain OEMs claimed that, Intel no longer supports 32 bit OS in servers. They explain tat Sandy Bridge processors are 64 bit and they can run only 64bit OS and downgrading to Win Server 2008 32 bit is not possible. I need some clarity regarding this. I tried HP configurator for ML110c, and i am unable make out whether it supports Win Serv 2008 32 bit OS.

Hi,

Let me give you an example on DL320e Gen8 server which supports Intel Xeon E3-12xx series processor.

Take a look at this link and choose Windows 2008 for DL320e Gen8, it has a note "ProLiant Generation 8 and Windows Server 2008 is supported when utilizing Service Pack 2 ONLY."

Thank You!
