Can we use the hosts file records to populate AD/DNS?

We have a W2K3 DC and we want to populate it with entries from a local hosts file.

Can we use the hosts file records to populate AD/DNS?

10 points to any answer.
Thank you

Re: Can we use the hosts file records to populate AD/DNS?

AD DNS uses the UNIX file scheme. So you can use the tool h2n:

http://www.softpanorama.org/DNS/Tools/zone_generators.shtml

Then, if your zones are not AD Integrated, you can paste the content to the Windows zone file.

If your zone is AD integrated, then your best option is to use the procedure described here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323419

This would mean that you need to set up a BIND DNS server first based in the results of h2n.
