Driver/Program Corruption

Can someone give me three main reasons why Drivers/Programs/ and the Registry get Corrupt, excluding viruses? Thanks

Hi:

I think the primary reason is the intentional/unintentional powering off of the computer while Windows (any version) is running, especially if applications have open files. Second, would probably be a failing hard disk drive or RAM and third, a failing power supply. The primary reason includes numerous possible hardware and software problems/issues.
