HP Omnibook XE2-DD

HP Omnibook XE2-DD

I have installed Windows 2000 onto my laptop and found that there are some
drivers missing. There is no video driver, audio driver or modem driver. The
NT video driver works with 2000 however it will not allow for the dual display
mode available in Windows 98. This is a particularly important and useful
feature to me, as the dual display allows for much more efficient use of the
applications that I run.

Can anyone help me with these problems. I have installed Windows 2000 onto to
other laptops within my organization (namely IBM) and they have not had the
same problems. This is disappointing to say the least. I do not see anything
on the support site that even mentions Windows 2000, why is HP so far behind
the curve. They have been able to ship since January 24th, but still no
drivers.

If anyone has any suggestions or workarounds help would be greatly
appreciated. I really want to run Windows 2000 as the features are hard to
ignore. However the lack of driver support frustrates me, as I generally pick
HP product over the IBM gear.

You didn't say which model you have. I've recently purchased a Pavilion N3390 and have been able to load Windows 2000 by utilizing drivers for the Omnibook. Although I haven't trier to use dual monitors yet, I have been able to get everything working except the DVD ROM. It will function as a CD ROM but I couldn't find any drivers yet to use the DVD.

Paul:

Go to this website: http://h20004.www2.hp.com/sdd4bsd2/driverspage_pool.html?pm_series_oid=31646&locale=en_US
and update the BIOS, then download and follow the instructions for HP Configuration Interface for Windows 2000. That should take care of everything.

Keep us posted!
