NT 4 on HP Brio 400

I have tried and tried to get NT Server 4.0 to recognise network cards but all to no avail.

The Brio BA400 was supplied with a Linksys 10/100 fastethernet card (4.1 chip).

I have tried every driver I have found for this card but I cannot get the network to start.

I have NT 4 service pack 3 / option pack 4 and service pack 6 installed.

Event viewer gives a message on startup "Device attached to this machine is not functioning", viewing the event it gives the name of the network card and driver ???

Any ideas?

Please help if you can, got no where else to go now.

PS. I have also tried Dlink and SMC type cards with similiar effort but no good.

Re: NT 4 on HP Brio 400

Can you try a different slot for the NIC?

Otherwise, I suggest deleting ALL networking components of NT, then re-install networking and apply SP 6A, nothing else.

(Just FYI, I don't consider any of those NIC brands you mentioned to be reliable players.)

Re: NT 4 on HP Brio 400

Thanks Paul.

I tried it in a couple of slots before it came alive.

Well Done

Thanks again
