NTLDR file
as i turn my comp on, i get the message that the NTLDR file is missing. repeated process a few times. throw in the windows XP Professional Edition, and all i get is the HP Invent screen, followed by the same NTLDR is missing message, with the only option being to restart my PC, any suggestions?

Take the floppy disk out of your floppy drive.

there was no floppy disc in the a drive. i dont even own any in the fact that floppy discs are pretty much obsolete.

This is a common error message if you leave a floppy in your drive, as KenE suggested. However, it's not the only thing that can cause this message. Check the following link (I know it's for 2000 but it should apply for XP as well, in theory):

and see if that helps any (it basically says, update your bios and then if that doesn't work, create a boot disk with ntldr, ntdetect.com and boot.ini on and copy them across to your system partition).
