Storage/6, 12; NetServers LC3 and NetRaids cards

We had many problems on some customers that have netservers LC3, LH3 and storages 6 and 12.
We also use NetRaids -1s and 3si.

In many cases, the disks appear offline aleatory, the netraid cards losed the disks configuration so we had to load the configuration file to re-establish the online condition of the disks.

The question is: why this behaviour of losing the configuration from the netraids happen ??.

If someone have an idea or suggestion, welcome !!

Need more information to help you. This can happen if the server is rebooted and the SS/6 or RS/12 is powered off and on at the same time.

When does this happen? On a reboot? Just out of the blue? When a drive fails?

I would like to help but need more info.

Re: Storage/6, 12; NetServers LC3 and NetRaids cards

First of all, thanks for your fast response!!. Always, We had taken into account that it's necessary to reboot the netserver before turning off the storage and on the other way turn on completely the storage and then the netserver, so it's not the problem.

We have also problems with several NetRaids (1 and 3si) which have configurations of Raids 5. Many times when a disk appears failed we try to take away and put again and the Raid fails too, so we have to load the configuration file again.

Is this common ??, does anybody have this situation ??.

Thanks, regards

Re: Storage/6, 12; NetServers LC3 and NetRaids cards

Depending on when you got the cards, there have been many bios updates to the Net-RAID series of cards. Some of your symptoms sound like BIOS issues. If you are on the Netserver Navigator Subscription list, the new new bios should be recognized on the boot of the Navigator CD, and from there it's a simple install. If you are not on the subscription list These files should be found from the www.hp.com site, or your HP CE will have access to them.

Hope this helps,
Chris
