Unmountable Boot volume?

I have a Hp Pavillion N5425 and when i do a startup it has an error and says unmountable boot volume 0x000000ED . When i tried to run the chkdsk it said autochk.exe was not found. I tried typing in the location manually but it says it was not there. What is causing the unmountable boot volume, and where could of my autochk file gone? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Unmountable Boot volume?

Thank you but I have tried the chkdsk /r but it seems I am missing the file needed to perform this. I'm assuming the autochk.exe is what I need but should I just try and get a copy of the file and put it in the windows folder through the command prompt? I'm thinking my hard drive may be playing a big part in this but only time will tell. By the way how much does a replacement hard drive cost for a labtop at around 20gb? Thanks for the help.

Re: Unmountable Boot volume?

You need to point to the file locate at the CD rom, not at the windows folder, if you booted with the CD and used the recovery console.
