Vista Ultimate vs. hp hd 1600 media drive Help?

Hp sold me a hd1600 personal media drive to use for back ups. Of course there are no disk or other downloads for the driver available. It automaticaly installs those when connected. Worked fine till I upgraded to Vista Ultimate. Now receive this: Back Up Failed. Shadow copy not completed object not found 0x80042308.
Now what does it need or did this just never work for Vista. Have never actually accessed any info from it as yet & now it only shows the initial backup of system is there.
