Re: computer speaker
Are we talking about a PC speaker (usually internal and connected to the motherboard) or speakers plugged into a sound card (either in a slot or on the motherboard but with externally-accessible audio jacks)?
Make a great day!
Roger
P.S.: Your computer model would be helpful.

Re: computer speaker
Most of the time you can go to your favorite electronic supply store and just buy another speaker. They are only $2 or so.
Or you can go to a swap meet and just take one out of an old portable radio.

Re: computer speaker
Based on the Windows 2000 driver page for your PC, it seems that there is a sound card in a slot. See:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Deskpro/us/locate/20_126.html
Typically, a PCI-slot sound card will disable any motherboard driven speaker. Do you have any speakers plugged into the sound card? Look in Device Manager under 'Sound, Video, and Game controllers' and see if anything is 'flagged'. Please tell us what version of Windows you're using and post the sound section of Device Manager here (use Alt/PrintScreen, then paste to Paint and save).
Make a great day!
