Simpler Navigation coming for Servers and Operating Systems
Coming soon: a much simpler Servers and Operating Systems section of the Community. We will combine many of the older boards, and you won't have to click through so many levels to get at the information you need. keyboard issue - notebook

when I hit the spacebar it types letters instead, when I hit the backspace key it flips the screen to full and the enter key also types letters too?? Pretty sure I hit 2 keys together to cause this, just don't know which ones.......Or is there a way to reset the keyboard in general??
Thanks so much, Cheers...........LD

Re: keyboard issue - notebook

Check driver file details from another machine & try to replace the driver .sys file from another similar OS machine.

Thanks

Hi Lorna,

You can reinstall the drivers for keyboard from device manager. Just uninstall it from the device manager and restart the computer.

Reinstall Keybaord Drivers in XP :

1.Click Start->Run.
2.Type DEVMGMT.MSC and press enter. Device Manager Window opens.
3.Click the plus (+) sign next to Keyboard to list the keyboard drivers.
4.Right-click one driver and click Remove. At the warning prompt, click OK.
5.Close all windows and restart the computer.

Reinstall Keybaord Drivers in Vista :

1: Click Start->Type DEVICE in Start Search.
2: Click on Device Manager in the above programs list.
3: Click the plus (+) sign next to Keyboard to list the keyboard drivers.
4: Select one driver and click Remove. At the warning prompt, click OK.
5: Repeat this process until there is no listing for keyboard.
6: Close all windows and restart the computer.

Thanks.
