Does Windows NT40 TCP/IP utilities have a command that does a name server lookup.

The command in UNIX is nslookup; I was wondering if windows had an equivalent

In Windows NT, the command is just the same.

Re: name server lookup for NT40

NT uses nslookup also, but it must be run from a dos prompt. Most of the options are identical also.

Same answer.
Use "nslookup" on the command prompt.

Re: name server lookup for NT40

There is one crucial difference... as near as I can tell NT's NSLOOKUP ONLY resolves from DNS.

PING will resolve from HOSTS, or WINS LMHOSTS or DNS or whatever.

Traceroute is available on NT - only the name has changed to tracert .

By the way there are additional commands on NT2000 - for example pathping .
Omniback and NT problems? double check name resolution, DNS/HOSTS...
