printer option

I have printers connected to my domain using a print server and ip address.

We need an option to be set up in such a way when a print is given by a user , at the bottom either his name or user id along with data and time has be to added with any data that is to be printed.

Re: printer option

I know nothing, but it might help to get even
a little useful information about the system
("sizer -v", say), a little more than "given
by a user" about how your print jobs get
submitted, a little more than "printers" to
describe the printers, and a little more than
"using a print server and ip address" to
describe who's connected to what how, and
what software lies along that path.

At the bottom of what? The print job? Each
page in the print job? ???

Re: printer option

Thanks for folllow up and i work as IT analyst in a company and we has printers connected Through a Print server.

When an user prints using any printers which is configured in his pc. the print out goes to a printer.

The option that i need is to have the name of the user or ID that he is logged on to the computer at the bottom of the print out that is given. irrespective of the matter and even if the header and footer is not on.

You posted this in a Tru64 UNIX forum. Is
Tru64 UNIX involved anywhere in your
environment? If not, then you might wish to
ask in some appropriate forum.

Still not a very detailed description.

> [...] at the bottom of the print out [...]

Still not a very clear description.

Re: printer option

If you have Windows Server 2008 R2 you can create a "printer filter" for this. If a print job meets your selection criteria you can then run a custom script.

Otherwise you are stuck with separator pages

Phil

Thanks for your response, But what i am trying to do is

> When any user who logins to his pc usinga user name and password to a domain irrespective of location tries to print files from his computer to printer in his place through a printserver.

After the print iut is taken . we need teh sysrtem to printe his ID and time at the end of the page with data he printed
